The mission that the Litvin Centers for Diabetes will try to promote is one that is desperately needed. Diabetes is a complex disease with multiple complications which require an intensive integrated approach and a great deal of education. Patients diagnosed with diabetes often must be followed by several physicians from different disciplines. Nutritional education is mandatory, and oversight with management of multiple medications is critical.

In addition, new modalities and novel medical devices are constantly introduced into the market place. All of this complexity, has great impact on patients. However, since patient care is currently handled by multiple "providers", the average patient does not reap the necessary benefits. The mission of the Litvin Centers for Diabetes will be to integrate and simplify this complexity, so that it is available to our patients from one location, and in the near future, over the internet.
