Dr. Herstik was born in Brooklyn , NY. After graduation from South Shore High School , he attended Binghamton University , where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology. He then chose to attend the William M. School College of Podiatry in Chicago , Illinois , graduating Magna Cum Laude and completed his two-year residency at Kern Hospital for Special Surgery. During this residency, he mastered his skills as a specialist in all kinds of foot ailments, concentrating in foot surgery and diabetic foot care.

“Podiatry was my chosen path because it affords me the opportunity to help people. I am blessed with the ability to be a doctor, a healer, and an integral part of the community. Most of my patients may come to me in pain, but I feel confident that I can help them leave my office pain-free, treating the various problems and teaching them about their feet.”

Dr. Herstik focuses most of his energy and daily routines around his practice of Podiatric Medicine; however he balances his life with various hobbies including photography, writing short stories, and traveling.

“Traveling keeps me grounded and allows me the opportunity to explore the world and learn about new cultures. I meet interesting people from all walks of life wherever I travel, and they teach me about their culture, homes and lifestyles. Traveling to foreign lands gives me an unlimited resource for my passion for photography and writing. I enjoy sharing my travel stories with my patients and I love to listen to their stories also.”

Barry works closely with his brother Ivan and they have been partners since 1993. He especially enjoys the teamwork and camaraderie they have developed and use that to their advantage during surgery when they routinely assist each other.

“Working with Ivan has been a great experience, as he has guided me and helped me grow into the doctor and person that I am today.”

Barry Herstik maintains two offices. One in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and one in Englewood, NJ.
